Watermead Park is located on the edge of Leicester, between Birstall and Syston, with easy access via the A46. There is ample parking.

Watermead park mainly consists of lakes of varying sizes, and was originally a quarry for sand. The sand "pits" were linked to the river Soar, to enable them to be supplied with water, and now provide a habitat for wildlife, and a watersports centre.

The most recent addition to the park was Woolley the Mammoth
