The Walk

FOR BEST RESULTS - WE SUGGEST YOU PRINT THIS ROUTE LANDSCAPE.

Starting with your back to Chapel Street, walk across Leicester Road, and down the little road. Before the road doubles back to Leicester Road, take a footpath off to your left - joining the Leicestershire Round. Follow this way marked route (right at fork) eventually reaching the old Fosse Way Roman Road.

Turn right along the route of the old road (now a track) still following the Leicestershire Round. Walk along the track for about 2km to High Cross (known to the Romans as VENONIS).

Here turn left, then left again onto High Cross Road (towards Claybrooke Magna) then take the Leicestershire Round footpath off to your right shortly. Follow this path into Claybrooke Parva.

At the road, go straight on (towards Ullesthorpe) then take the footpath (Leicestershire Round again) on your left. In Claybrooke Magna, turn right along the residential street, then at the end, take the Leicestershire Round Path.

As the path splits, keep left, then left again to the road. Cross over Frolesworth Lane, and continue along the path (the left of the two) to Frolesworth.

At Frolesworth, we leave the Leicestershire Round, turning left along the road, then left again down the footpath by Manor Farm.

Walk along this footpath, crossing over the Fosse Way, and eventually turning right along the Leicestershire Round, back into Sharnford.

This walk will be of interest to any historian... as for 2km it follows the line of the Fosse Way. It is also an ideal route for people trying to walk the Leicestershire Round, as it follows the round for over 3/4 of the route.
